The following is a letter sent by Ron Gamel, Program Director of the Michigan United Networks of America, stating the degree of usage of the Kent County discount prescription drug card.

Dear Commissioner Mast,

Thank you for sponsoring the United Networks of America Discount Prescription Card Program as part of the services and benefits provided to the residents of Kent County.  By providing access to the UNA program, you are giving your residents the opportunity to join the millions of other UNA program participants who receive valuable discounts on prescription drugs.

Thanks to the County's efforts to promote the program, you were able to save your residents money on 8,702 prescriptions this year.  To show you how the program has grown in Kent County, the following is a summary of the qualifying prescriptions that have received a discount in the past 6 months:

We feel confident that this number will continue to grow as you continue to promote the program and the word spreads throughout the County as to how the residents can take advantage of the 30 - 70% discount on their prescription drug purchases.
